During National Volunteer Week in Canada (April 21-27) we celebrated and recognized volunteers who continue to support our riding association’s goals.

As part of our recognition, Veronica Wynne was presented with the Ruth Franks Award of Volunteer Excellence for the most outstanding volunteer in our riding over the past year by PHP Riding President Karin McNair and Ruth Franks.

If you show up for a PHP riding event, Veronica is either running it or out in front with her apron and hat! As the riding associations Vice President for Policy Action and Co-chair of the Policy Action committee, she has led initiatives including The Mental Health Stigma Free Zone committee, which hosted a Movie Matinee on Mental Health in August 2012 and filled the Revue Cinema.

Showing support for victims and survivors of Sikh Temple shooting

Images of the crowd and march

Members of our riding attended the Toronto march and candle-lit vigil to show unity with and support for the Wisconsin Sikh Temple shooting victims and survivors. Our thoughts and prayers go out to those impacted by this tragic event and all those who continue to face faith-based and race-based discrimination.

Young Liberals clean up Junction’s Malta Park

Happy to help

As part of our riding’s commitment to be more than a political organization, some of the local Young Liberals took part in a clean up at Malta Park on July 15. Organized by the Youth Committee, this event attracted youth and families in support of the beautification of the local park in the Junction.

Stay tuned for future activities from the energetic Youth Committee.

Victory Fund Challenge

The Parkdale-High Park Federal Liberal Association is one of the most active riding associations in the GTA.  Our participation, and our financial support, is a reflection of our values as Liberals. The Conservatives and the NDP have some advantages in the category of fundraising, and our riding needs to lead the way in closing the gap. Sign up here to contribute a monthly donation to the party and your riding (as little as $10 a month!), half going to our association and half going to the national party. With tax credits, you get up to 75% of your donation back at tax time!

We need to be organized, effective, and funded, both in Ottawa and in Parkdale-High Park. With your help, we can better advance the ideals we share as Liberals.

For help setting up your Victory Fund contribution, email Marjorie Horeis, our Victory Fund Chair.
